Reading the Qur’aan

Reading the Qur’aan
Translated & Compiled by
Abbas Abu Yahya
Advice for the one who has no blessings in his time
One of the Salaf said:
‘Every time I increased in reading a portion of the Qur’aan, blessings increased in my time, and I continued increasing in reading until I reached reading ten Ajzaa (parts) of my portion of reading.’
Ibraheem bin AbdulWahid al-Maqdasi advised ad-Deeya al-Maqdasi when he wanted to travel for knowledge:
‘Read the Qur’aan a lot and do not leave it; indeed it will make it easy for you for that what you seek (i.e. knowledge) due to the amount that you read.’
ad-Deeya said: ‘I saw that this was true and I experienced it a lot, so I used to if I had read a lot find it easy to hear Hadeeth being narrated a lot and writing them down,  and if I did not read the Qur’aan,  it would not be easy for me.’

Reflecting upon the Qur’aan
Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751 A.H.) -Rahimullaah-said:
‘If the people knew what was in reciting the Qur’aan with reflecting upon it they would definitely busy themselves with it, rather than busying themselves with everything other than the Qur’aan.
Reading the Ayaat while pondering over them is better than finishing reading it without reflecting upon it and understanding it. This is more beneficial for the heart, and greater in extent to achieving Eemaan and to taste the sweetness of the Qur’aan. . . . ‘
[Miftah Dar-As-Sa'ada 1/553]
The Necessity of Learning the Qur’aan
Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen (d.1421 A.H.) said:
‘It is necessary for a person to learn the meanings of the Qur’aan just like he learns the wording of the Qur’aan. It is very regretful that the reality of many of the Muslims is that they are not upon this methodology.  Meaning that they read the Qur’aan for worship with just its wordings without understanding its meaning or without implementing its rulings.
This is a great deficiency, and its effects are apparent upon the Muslims, whereby they have significantly opposed what the Salaf as-Salih (righteous predecessors) were upon from implementing the Qur’aan, in wording, meaning and action. Therefore, the Muslims have missed out on a lot of goodness.’

Authenticity of the Hadiths mentioning Al-Dajjal

(Part No. 3Page No. 146)
The second question of Fatwa no. 3381
Q 2: Are there any Hadiths mentioning the appearance of Al-Masih-ul-Dajjal (the Antichrist)? Are these Hadiths ranked as Sahih (a Hadith that has been transmitted by people known for their uprightness and exactitude; free from eccentricity and blemish), Hasan (a Hadith whose chain ofnarration contains a narrator with weak exactitude, but is free from eccentricity or blemish), or Da`if (a Hadith that fails to reach the status of Hasan, due to a weakness in the chain of narration or one of the narrators)?
A: There are Hadiths that are Sahih and Mutawatir (Hadith reported by a significant number of narrators throughout the chain of narration, whose agreement upon a lie is impossible) about the appearance of Al-Masih-ul-Dajjal. His appearance is one of the Signs of the Hour. For more information on this subject, you should refer to Hadith books such as, the Two Sahih (authentic) Books of Hadith (i.e. Al-Bukhari and Muslim), Jami` Al-'Usul, and other reliable books of Hadith.
May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

Al-Jassasah

The second question of Fatwa no. 19926
Q 2: Is Al-Jassasah, which is mentioned in the Hadith reported by Tamim Al-Dary, the same creature as the one which will be of the Greater Signs of the Hour (Doomsday)? What will this creature do when it appears? Will it cause harm or not?
(Part No. 2Page No. 336)
A: Al-Jassasah mentioned in the Hadith reported by Tamim Al-Dary (may Allah be pleased with him) is different from the creature which Allah will bring out from the earth at the end of time as a Greater Sign of the Hour(Doomsday).
May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

Q 1: Who is Al-Mahdy and what are the Signs of the Hour?

The first question of Fatwa no. 7664
Q 1: Who is Al-Mahdy and what are the Signs of the Hour?
A: Al-Mahdy is a man from Ahl-ul-Bayt (members of the Prophet's extended Muslim family), who will appear before the descent of `Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him) to call to Islam. Through Al-Mahdy, Allah will re-establishthe evidences and guide many people. If you want to increase your knowledge on this topic, read what was written by Ibn Kathir (may Allah be pleased with him) in his book Al-Nihayah.
May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
