The Superiority of the Knowledge of the Predecessors Over the Knowledge of the Successors | by Nissho for everyone |
Category: | Books |
Genre: | Religion & Spirituality |
Author: | Al-Haafidh Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbalee |
Author: Al-Haafidh Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbalee
Paperback: 80 Pages
Published: Jan. 2007
About the Book:
This is the third book in the “Classical Knowledge Series” which is a collection of works written by the scholars of the past on the virtues, etiquettes and aspects of knowledge. This particular book written by the great scholar, Al-Haafidh Ibn Rajab, is one of the well known works authored on the subject.
In spite of its small size, the treatise brings to light many amazing and intricate points of benefit with regard to knowledge and discerning between which of its types are beneficial and non-beneficial. Indeed, the Prophet praised some forms of knowledge while condemning others. And at times he would ask Allaah to grant him beneficial knowledge while at other times he would seek refuge in Him from non-beneficial knowledge.
It is for this reason that the author took on the task of clarifying the various types, characteristics, signs and consequences of both beneficial knowledge and non-beneficial knowledge in this short treatise, as well as affirming the superiority of the knowledge of the predecessors (Salaf) over the knowledge of those who succeeded them (Khalaf).
Altogether, this is a splendid and remarkable book – loaded with reminders and admonitions and designed to assist and guide any sincere Muslim in his quest for seeking knowledge.
Three publications of the book were used for this present translation. The main publication that was relied on was the Dar-ul-Imaam Ahmad, Egypt 2005 Edition with verification of narrations based on the works of Imaam Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee. It is important to note that all section headings were added by that publisher – not by the author or translator – in order to assist the reader.
Verification and referencing of narrations not covered by the Dar-ul-Imaam Ahmad edition were taken from the Dar-ul-Bashaa’ir-ul-Islaamiyyah edition from the footnotes of Muhammad bin Naasir Al-‘Ajamee and noted with an [A] for [Al-‘Ajamee] at the end of the footnote to distinguish this source from the previous one.
Furthermore, all biographical accounts of the Salaf (excluding the Sahaabah) found in this book were taken from the footnotes of the Dar-ul-Hadeeth, Egypt 1989 edition with the notes of Muhammad ‘Abdul-Hakeem Al-Qaadee. No indications were made to distinguish his words as it is evident the biographical accounts are his notes.
Therefore, this work is a combination of the above sources and employs footnotes from all three of these works so as to make this English publication as beneficial and resourceful as possible.
Finally, the last part of the book contains another treatise from Al-Haafidh Ibn Rajab called Dhamm Qaswat-il-Qalb or “A Condemnation of the Hardening of the Heart.” This small treatise was added as a supplement since the author touches upon this subject in the last part of his treatise Fadlu ‘Ilm-is-Salaf ‘alaa ‘Ilm-il-Khalaf (The Superiority of the Knowledge of the Predecessors over the Knowledge of the Successors).
The source used for the translation of this short treatise was the one found in the Maktabah Awlaad-ush-Shaikh Lit-Turaath edition which is a compilation of several of Imaam Ibn Rajab’s treatises in two volumes with notes and verifications by Naasir An-Najjaar. It is a complete translation of the treatise with the exception of some poetic lines written by the author.
We hope that this publication serves as a benefit for the Muslims and an encouragement and inspiration for them to seek knowledge and abide by its proper etiquettes.
About the Author:
Al-Haafidh Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbalee was one of the great scholars of the 8th century. He is well known today for the legacy of monumental works that he left behind him such as his explanation of Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree, his explanation of An-Nawawee’s Forty Hadeeth and scores of other treatises, including this one which reveals his pure Creed, upright methodology and sound knowledge.

The Wahhabi Myth (Dispelling Prevelant Fallacies and the Fictitous Link with Bin Ladin) | by Nissho for everyone |
Category: | Books |
Genre: | Religion & Spirituality |
Author: | Haneef James Oliver |
Author: Haneef James Oliver
Paperback: 170
Published: Feb. 04
The 'Wahhabi' Myth by Haneef James Oliver clarifies many of the gross inaccuracies and outright lies that have been attributed to the belief of the Salafi Muslims (often referred to as "Wahhabis"). Although some reporters have been vigilant enough to rebut some of these widespread fables, most have fallen headfirst into what one discerning reporter called, "the neo-conservative line that the whole conspiracy against America can be traced back to Wahhabism and the government of Saudi Arabia."
What do Wahhabis Think About 9/11?
"...The terrorist attacks that took place and what occurred of general (mass) killing; this is not permissible and Islam does not allow it in any form whatsoever. Islam frees itself from this action…"

The Path to Guidance | by Nissho for everyone |
Category: | Books |
Genre: | Religion & Spirituality |
Author: | Ibnul-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (d. 751H) |
Author: Ibnul-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (d. 751H)
Paperback: 132 Pages
Published: 2000 (reprint 2007)
Imaam Ibn Katheer said about Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim, “He was attached to occupying himself with knowledge, day and night. He would pray and recite the Qur‘aan much and was of excellent character, and showed great affection and friendship. He would not be jealous or envious.” “Get up (and hurry) in entering upon Allaah and accompanying Him in the Home of Peace, without any tiredness, hardship or fatigue, but in fact by the nearest of paths and the most easiest (of them). And this is (by realising) that you are in a time between two times which is (what constitutes) your life, and this is the present time which is between what has passed and what is yet to come. Then that which has passed, you can correct by repentance, remorse and seeking forgiveness. This is something in which there will be no tiredness, fatigue, or any straining efforts (required on your behalf). It is (nothing but) the action of the heart” “And there is due from the servant to Allaah, in every moment from his time, servitude which will advance him or bring him nearer to Allaah. So if he spends his time in servitude to Allaah, he will advance to his Lord and if he busies himself with desires, or relaxation or inactivity, he will lag behind. And the servant never ceases either to be moving forward or falling behind, and there is no stopping whilst on the path, ever.” Every harm that enters upon a servant, is caused by the heart’s corruption. The corruption of the heart in turn brings about the removal of the heart’s right upon Allaah, the Exalted, and a dimunition of its degree and rank in the sight of Allaah. For this reason, some of the shaikhs advised with their saying, “Be cautious of (the) mixing with a person which will cause wastage of time and corruption of the heart. For verily, when time is wasted and the heart is corrupted, all of the affairs of the servant will become ruined ...” “How can it befit the intelligent person that he should waste and neglect it (i.e., his soul), and to sell it for an insignificant price, in a ceasing, wasting, perishing place. Is this but the greatest of frauds? This senseless and foolish fraud will become manifest on the Day of Resurrection, when the scales of those having taqwaa of Allaah will be heavy (with good deeds) and the scales of the falsifiers will be light (devoid of good deeds).”

The Methodology of the Salaf in 'Aqeedah and Its Influence on Muslim Unity | by Nissho for everyone |
Category: | Books |
Genre: | Religion & Spirituality |
Author: | Shaykh Saalih as-Suhaymee |
Author: Shaykh Saalih as-Suhaymee
Paperback: 96 Pages
Published: June, 2005
This simple effort is to explain the foundation and the methodology that the Salafus-Saaleh were upon in ‘Aqeedah; and the extents of the peoples’ deviation from this methodology whereby the speech of the Muslims and their unity have weakened.
The reason for choosing this topic:
This simple effort is to explain the foundation and the methodology that the Salafus-Saaleh were upon in ‘Aqeedah; and the extents of the peoples’ deviation from this methodology whereby the speech of the Muslims and their unity have weakened.
I have titled it, “The Methodology of the Salaf in ‘Aqeedah and Its Influence on Muslim Unity.”
I took it upon myself to write this treatise due to the negligence of many authors in this particular area of ‘Aqeedah. ‘Aqeedah is the first pillar that upholds the foundation which the existence of an Islaamic society rests upon. The ranks of the Muslims rally under this foundation. From this foundation, the people seek out their unity. Under its light, they plow ahead towards the highest peak of glory and honor. Along with the guidance of correct ‘Aqeedah and its principles, they conquer the hearts before they conquer the cities and countries.
Indeed, there have been many writers, lectures, gatherings, preachers, and callers who have called for the unity of the Muslims. They have done this by presenting various ways and solutions to unify the ranks of the Muslims. However, these methods and plans are deficient and incomplete, due to their concern for the branches of the religion only. Therefore, we find one group trying to have unity while placing importance on politics, another group on Islaamic etiquettes, and the third group focusing on Targheeb and Tarheeb, asceticism, and piety. However, we find none among these groups focusing on the main foundation and the greatest pillar. This pillar, which is the stronghold and firm starting, points towards Muslim unity; it is none other than the doctrine of Tawheed. Allaah united us after division and joined our hearts after separation. Through Tawheed, we became one nation with one purpose and belief. This is the source of our might; the sign of our happiness and our existence is dependent upon it. Our purpose is to worship Allaah, the One who there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, no Lord other than Him. This is the underlying reason for our existence, which is why Allaah created us.

Mountains of Knowledge - The 'Aqeedah & Manhaj of the Great Imaams of the Past - | by Nissho for everyone |
Category: | Books |
Genre: | Religion & Spirituality |
Author: | Various Imams |
Paperback: 270 Pages
Published: May, 2001
With the aim of actualising the saying of the revered Imaam Maalik ibn Anas (died 179H), “The latter part of this Ummah will not be corrected except by that which corrected its first part,” this is a presentation of the creed and methodology of the earliest generations, known as the Salafus-Saalih, as preserved in some of the extant manuscripts and documents which have been verified by both classical and contemporary Scholars of the Sunnah.
As will not be hidden from any and every Muslim, the earlier one goes back in history, the purer and cleaner the religion, until we reach the era of the Companions of Allaah’s Messenger, to whom the Messenger said, “I have left you upon clear proof, its night is like its day, no one deviates from it except that he is destroyed, and whomsoever amongst you lives for long will see great controversy. So stick to what you know from my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Orthodox Rightly Guided Caliphs, cling to that with your molar teeth”. For this reason we find some of the Taabi’een (Successors of the Companions) advising those in their time and those after them to ‘stick to the original state of affairs’. For it was then and only then that the word of the Muslims was one, their ranks united and their strength and glory realised.

Both the Arabic and English text of each hadeeth have been printed so as to facilitate memorisation and understanding. It is unique in its compilation - two major Scholars of our era have reviewed this work confirming its understanding, namely: The Noble Shaykh, the 'Allaamah Saaleh bin Fawzaan bin Abdullaah al-Fawzaan and the Noble Shaykh, the 'Allaamah 'Alee bin Muhammad bin Naasir al-Faqeehee.
The author states: “So these are forty seven established hadeeths I have gathered in clarification of the important fundamentals connected to the Salafi Manhaj (Methodology). I sought, in accordance to my ability, the summarized texts so they would be easy to memorise. And I gave each of them a title in accordance with the intent of the treatise.”

Clarification That The Ahlul-Hadeeth are the Saved-Sect and Victorious Group | by Nissho for everyone |
Category: | Books |
Genre: | Religion & Spirituality |
Author: | Fawzee Ibn 'Abdullaah al-Atharee |
Author: Fawzee Ibn 'Abdullaah al-Atharee
Paperback: 215 Pages
Published: April, 2003
This book is an invaluable resource of countless narrations and statements of the Salaf as well as the later and present day Scholars of the Ummah indicating that the people of hadeeth (Ashaabul-Hadeeth, Ahlul-Hadeeth) are in fact the Saved Sect and Victorious Group. The Ahlul-Hadeeth are those who adhere to the athaar and are greatly concerned with them, purifying them, authenticating them and acting upon them; and these are none other than the Scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah.
From the Back of the Book:
Stated Abul-Mudhaffar as-Sam’aanee (d.498H) in al-Intisaar li-Ahlil-Hadeeth (p. 45), “And from that which proves that the Ahlul-Hadeeth are upon the truth is that if you were to read all of their written books, from the first of them to the last of them, their old and new, along with the fact that they lived in different countries and times and there were long distances in between them and each one of them lived in a region from amongst the regions, you will find them upon a single way and a single matter with regards to the explanation of the creed. They led the way upon this path and did not deviate from it nor swerve. Their statement concerning that was one and their action was one. You would not see any difference or division amongst them in anything, even if it was small. Rather, if you were to gather up what had been stated upon their tongues, and whatever had been quoted from their Salaf, you would find that it was as if it all came from one heart and was stated upon one tongue. So is there a clearer evidence of the truth than this?”

Category: | Books |

Paperback: 58 Pages

Verily a discussion about the sects is not an issue of mere historical presentation by which the study of the origins of the sects is done simply for the sake of it. As is the case with historical events. Rather, discussion about the sects has a greater importance than that, and it is a warning from the evils of these sects and their newly invented matters and the necessity to cling to Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah. Abandoning that which the deviated sects are upon is not achieved by an individual, rather it is only achieved after study and recognition of what the Saved Sect is.

Who are the Ahlus-Sunnah-wal-Jamaa’ah, those whom every Muslim is obliged to be with?
And what are the different sects? And are their ways and doubts, in order that one may be aware of them, because as they say, ‘the one who does not recognise evil, then it is feared that he will fall into it’.
So recognition of the sects, their ways and doubts and recognition of the Saved Sect, Ahl-us-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah, and what it is upon, contain much benefit for the Muslim.

Advice to the Youth of Ahlus Sunnah | by Nissho for everyone |

Author: Shaykh Ibraheem ar-Ruhaylee
Paperback: 20 Pages
Published: 2007
In this unique and concise piece of advice expounds on some of the obstacles that is facing the Da'wah tus Salafiyah today. He directs his advice to the youth from Ahlus Sunnah and the students of knowledge from them who, in their zealousness and enthusiasm for the religion, have fallen into many mistakes due to their lack of understanding some very intricate matters and important principals of the religion. Issues relating to boycotting, refutations, Tabdee’a (i.e. considering someone to be an innovator), Takfeer (i.e. to consider a Muslim to be a disbeliever), how to deal with those who oppose the Minhaj of Ahlus Sunnah and others. The sheikh brings current examples, all of which, the communities in the west bear witness to. This particular path has turned many people away from following the Minhaj of Ahlus Sunnah and has caused discord and separation in many communities. In conclusion, the sheikh leaves the reader with some precious jewels of encouragement directed towards those who were victims of these mistakes and removes the restricted and negative outlook that many may have about the Minhaj of Ahlus Sunnah and the Da’wah tus Salafiyah based upon the inappropriate actions of a few from amongst them. Many of the well known scholars have praised and thanked the sheikh for this effort and we ask Allah Azza wa Jal to place it in his scales of good on the Day where no wealth or children will be of any avail except those who come to Him with a pure heart.

A History of the Ahlul-Hadeeth - A Study of the Saved Sect and that is The People of Hadeeth | by Nissho for everyone |
Category: | Books |
Genre: | Religion & Spirituality |
Author: | al-'Allaamah, Ahmad Ibn Muhammad |
Author: al-'Allaamah, Ahmad Ibn Muhammad ad-Dehlawee al-Madanee
Paperback: 172 Pages
Published: December, 2005
Indeed Allaah, the Most Perfect, has favoured this Ummah with the chain of narration as a distinguishing mark. He has specified this for them, giving them this connection which was not given to those who preceded them from amongst the slaves. With that, in every era unique Imaams and brilliant critics have arisen, where one of them would take great pains in his precision over it, and they strove with excellence. They sought the ways to explain its obscurities and they were successful in achieving that which they intended. That is from one of the miracles of our Prophet () which he informed us would occur.
He supplicated for the one who undertook this speciality and sipped from its spring, for he said, “You will listen and then you will be heard, and they will be heard from those who listened to you.”
This specialty, which is continuous throughout the ages, is from amongst the special characteristics of the Companions of the Sunnah (Ashaabus-Sunnah) and the People of Hadeeth (Ahlul-Hadeeth). With it they stood a mighty stand and they persisted in the call to it with a mighty persistence.
So because of this, their methodology, may Allaah have mercy upon their deceased and preserve their living ones, is the methodology of recording the truth which nobody else can uncover and no-one can tarnish with any defect.

Fundamentals of the Salafee Methodology - An Islaamic Manual for Reform (2nd ed.) | by Nissho for everyone |
Category: | Books |
Genre: | Religion & Spirituality |
Author: | Imaam Muhammad Naasirud-Deen al-Albaanee |
Author: Imaam Muhammad Naasirud-Deen al-Albaanee
Paperback: 190 Pages
Published: (1st Ed. November 2003) 2nd Ed. May 2009
This treatise is taken from a lecture delivered by the great muhaddith of our times explaining the most basic fundamentals of the noble Salafee call. The lecture itself propounds Salafiyyah in a way that can be understood by the layman. A beginner’s tool such as this is currently not available in print in the English language. In addition to being an introductory guide for the beginner, the book also serves as an intermediate manual in terms of the many explanatory notes and additional appendices included within it.
The book begins by giving an overview of the importance and role of at-tasfiyah wat-tarbiyah (purification and education), which sets the stage for the reader to comprehend of the validity of that which is to follow. The author begins by explaining what is ‘Salafiyyah’ in conventional usage, its well known position towards the bigoted following of madhaahib and the difference between merely affiliating oneself to the Book and the Sunnah; as opposed to actually acting upon that. The author goes onto discuss the obligation of taking the Salaf as an example, categories of the Sunnah and the reality of Salafiyyah. Then this is compared to the present condition of the Muslims along with giving an explanation as to why so much differing and splitting has occurred. Lastly, there occurs a detailed discussion about some of the most prevalent doubts upon Ahlus-Sunnah today, such as those from amongst the Mu’tazilah who deny the khabrul-aahaad (singular narration) and the Ashaa’irah and their likes who attribute tashbeeh (resembling Allaah to His creation) to Ahlus-Sunnah, whilst themselves performing ta‘weel (figurative interpretation) and ta’teel (denial) of the Attributes of Allaah. The later part of the book is devoted to a biography of Imaam Muhammad Naasirud-Deen al-Albaanee, his discussion with the head of al-Azhar concerning the issues of taqleed and the madhaahib and an exposition of standard Ash’aree doubts upon Ahlus-Sunnah and their creed. In a time of severe confusion and corruption, this treatise is sure to be a beacon of enlightenment and a pure spring from which all those desiring true guidance can drink.
