the "major pilgrimage". The once in a lifetime obligation (only if one possesses the means) of pilgrimage to Makkah, made up of specified rites performed between the 8th to the 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah (eleventh month of the Islaamic year). It is one of the five pillars of Islaam.
