Books reviews 2

Category:Books
Genre:Religion & Spirituality
Author:Ash-Sheikh Badr Al-Utaybee
I bought the book recently from rimarket.net - I finished the books i think yesterday or the day before, in the morning, just tried to read and get most out of the Book. Alhamdulillah. It was a very beneficial books.

there is so much i could share with you from the book if i could only look through it again and note out but i have the content of the book for you here and this will tell you enough about the book. inshaaAllah.

1 - the maintenance of Dhikr - remembrance of Allah and its repetition
2 - The distancing from the sins
3 - The actions by what is learned
4 - Training the mind and activate the memory
5 - The writing of the what is memorized even more than once
6 - The reviewing
7 - The conversation with what is memorized
8 - Connecting what is memorized starting with what came before its memorization
9 - Eating what will help on strenghening of the memorization
10 - Time management

Shaykh in the first section mentions how dhikr of Allah prevents one from forgetting and also if one forgets, one should remember Allah and also dhikr of Allah gives strength to oneself as our Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam told his daughter to say subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu akbar 33, 33, 34 times before going to bed as replacement for having a servant girl to help out in the house.

and in the second chapter shaykh mentions how sins takes away the memorization and leaving sins is a way to strengthening your memorization and keep it with you. Shaykh mentions many narrations of the salaf on it and one that is well known which is imam assafi asking imam wakee about the cure for forgetting, he said to leave off sinning as knowledge is light and it is not given to the one who is disobedient.

[it is a fact and you can test your own self, may Allah help us ameen]

then in 3rd chapter shaykh mentions how knowledge is remembered by acting on it, as knowledge calls for actions, if responded it stays, if not, it leaves one. [very true as well, you can check yourself on it as well]. shaykh mentions narrations of the salaf as to how the acted on ahadeeth they memorized and helped themselves to remember them by acting on the hadith.

in forth chapter shaykh shared, how one should not just busy oneself in writing and recording but should also memorize and also if one always memorizes regularly, then memorization becomes easy, one could memorize then in short time more materials than one could before. and this increases one's desire to memorize more.

in fifth chapter, maashaaAllah it was an amazing lesson, shaykh advised to write what we memorize more than once, and he mentioned narrations from our salaf who wrote out books of ahadeeth more than 5, 6, 7 or more times maashaaAllah. and some of the salaf, they wrote and by writing more than one they memorized what they wrote.

and in the sixth chapter, it was another amazing lesson, i wish we did like our salaf did, shaykh mentions how our salaf used to get together and review works at night and other times. shaykh categorized this reviewing,

saying it could be by ones' self or with others, and with others he divided into categories as well, from that is one: research and review, and another is: reviewing by asking and answering like our prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam used to do, he used to ask his sahabah here and there questions of aqeedah and other than it as you see in many ahadeeth.

then another way of reviewing is by asking what have you memorized from such and such author/narrator of hadith, shaykh mentioned narration from salaf how they used to do it, they used to ask each others, about hadith and then go over it and mention its fiqh rulings and its explanation.

and also reviewing by attending lessons and durus, and taking about the materials memorized.

and reviewing my oneself is by repeating what is memorized like one should be reading Qur'an so one doesn't forget as our Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam advised.

and then shaykh mentioned the importance of review and how salaf did and directed to it and mentioned the narration as to the time of the review, and said like in the morning and the night, and the quiet time.

in a narration it says, night is the best time. [also in one it says, first the pre-dawn time, middle of the night and afternoon]

and yes shaykh mentioned greatly about the importance of reviewing after fajr and warned against sleeping after it. [i wish i could do it, i really want to but everyone goes to sleep in my house after fajr prayer ah!!]

the 7th chapter: is talking about the materials memorized and shaykh showed its importance and said it is one of the best way to memorize and direct one to act upon the knowledge one memorized.

some of the salaf memorized by talking what they didn't memorize before.

our salaf were very active in reviewing and talking about the materials they memorized amongst themselves, alhamdulillah, maashaaAllah. i wish *we did it instead of chatting around but sadly, when you start talking about ilm, some people get up and leave and they get board and you hear things that only brings discouragement, discouraging one's self from seeking knowledge".*

the 8th chapter was an extraordinary one, i saw many people using it as well. Shaykh advised to connect one knowledge with another, he gave example like how some of the salaf were born in a year while others passed away on it. bringing about similarities between topics and relating it to other topics and making it easy to remember and memorize and also using like each letter of each word then making a term to memorize the big info behind each word. forgot what they call in English.

You know like in arabic you have a poem to memorize huruf as samsiyah and huruf alqamariyah, and also a word to memorize huruf almudaree' etc.

and in 9th lesson shaykh mentions to eat foods and drinks that will help in memorization and strengthen it. like: [زبيب - اللبان - شم الطيب - الحجامة - ] Raisins - Frankincense - smelling of the good - cupping - and drinking of zamzam water.

shaykh directed to a book that has this info in more detail. [ibnul qayyem said, honey is good for memory as well in book of medicine.]

and finally the 10th advice: shaykh advised for management of time and life with study, like 1 hour for hadith memorization, 1 hour for qur'an, 1 for review, one for mutun memorization etc. organizing the time and filling the time with beneficial study.

and shaykh reminded of the haidth, beloved act to allah is that which is done regularly. [may Allah aid me and all of us ameen].

and then shaykh closed the book with many advices and reminders and in this book there is mention of books that one should memorize in many field of islamic sciences and shaykh also directed to books that could help one get more advices in this matter and increase in ones zeal to memorize and work hard in seeking knowledge and memorizing. shaykh also noted some narrations as to how the salaf were in this matter in memorizing and working hard in seeking knowledge.

i hope Allah makes this review a benefit for myself and you all who stops by to read and benefit and may Allah aid us all in seeking knowledge of His deen and grant us beneficial ilm and righteous actions. ameen.

============================

I bought this book on Dec. of 2008, and after 1 and half years later almost Alhamdulillah i finished reading the main text of the book Yesterday. I didn't do the exercise because i started reading the book because i really MISSED studying Grammar of Arabic.

Arabic Grammar is amazing, honestly, i really love it much. it is so systematic and organized and logical alhamdulillah and it is beautiful. Alhamdulillah.

As i was eading the book, i was thinking of posting a review of it but i didn't want to write until i was done. There was one thing i wanted to say about this book that is: it is an EASY EASY EASY BOOK. Alhamdulillah.

MaashaaAllah, our noble shaykhah only took the basics of Arabic Grammar and made very brief chapters with brief text containing very brief explanation. Then she followed up with TWO section of Exercises, ONE that should be done with the main chapter and another that should be done by the student at home.

I just tried to do the exercises in my head at the beginning then i didn't do it later in the head. I was just focusing on the text of the book. InshaaAllah in future i will do the book with the exercises.

There seemed to be words that i didn't know the meaning of here and there so i didn't want to do the exercises for that as i have to open the dictionary and pen and papers etc. my aim was to study the grammar firstly. alhamdulillah.

i bought this book after reading the review of brother Aboo Imran that you can find here: CLICK HERE and he said, "lso for those doing Madinah Book Two and Three then you will have few problems understanding the lessons and principles as the Shaykhah used very clear and understandable terminology."

This is very true, alhamdulillah. maashaaallah i just realized i understood something else from what he said, that is "will have problem".

maashaaAllah no, i do not think those finishing 3 madinah books will have problem, maybe few as the brother said, not even few i think, maybe couple due to change of few terms here and there.

But the book is VERY EASY and it is VERY BASIC and it gives for the beginner what they should know at first.

BUT i think the exercises may take more grammar then what shaykhah explained because for the instruments of exception and sisters of innah, dhanna and kana" some more explanation is needed for each particles and also for Haal.

but the main text of the book is SO EASY. Alhamdulillah. For all beginners, this book is perfect and an excellent review as well and practice book alhamdulillah.

SO GET it....

Allaah has defined the characteristics of His slaves in various places throughout the Qur'aan. From the most poignant of these verses is the statement of Allaah in Sooratul-Furqaan. Allaah, the Most High, has stated, And the slaves of the Most Merciful are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply with mild words of gentleness. And those who spend the night in worship of their Lord, prostrating and standing in prayer. These verses, commonly referred to as the Sifaatu ibaadir-Rahmaan (the characteristics of the worshippers of ar-Rahmaan), contain some of the most important characteristics of the successful, believing slaves of Allaah. It is therefore elementary that every Believer should understand them.

The intent of this book is to clarify these most important verses, according to the explanations of Shaikh 'Abdur Rahmaan ibn Naasir as Sa'dee, may Allaah, the Most High, have mercy upon him, one of the greatest contemporary scholars of our time.

Alhamdulillah. Allah has given me tawpiq to finish this book. i bought it after it came out, which wasn't too long ago, i think i bought like before the Summer.

The book is very little but what it contains is very valuable alhamdulillah. it is a compilation of tafsir of as-sadi and few ahadeeth and their explanation at the end. the main text is on the tafsir of these ayat:

And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allâh) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness. (Al-Furqan 25:63)

And those who spend the night before their Lord, prostrate and standing. (Al-Furqan 25:64)

And those who say: "Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell. Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment." (Al-Furqan 25:65)

Evil indeed it (Hell) is as an abode and as a place to dwell. (Al-Furqan 25:66)

And those, who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor niggardly, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes). (Al-Furqan 25:67)

And those who invoke not any other ilâh (god) along with Allâh, nor kill such life as Allâh has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment. (Al-Furqan 25:68)

The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace; (Al-Furqan 25:69)

Except those who repent and believe (in Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Al-Furqan 25:70)

And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds, then verily, he repents towards Allâh with true repentance. (Al-Furqan 25:71)

And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity. (Al-Furqan 25:72)

And those who, when they are reminded of the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, fall not deaf and blind thereat. (Al-Furqan 25:73)

And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqûn" (pious - see V.2:2 and the footnote of V.3:164)." (Al-Furqan 25:74)

Those will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience. Therein they shall be met with greetings and the word of peace and respect. (Al-Furqan 25:75)

Abiding therein; excellent it is as an abode, and as a place to dwell. (Al-Furqan 25:76)

========================
all the characteristic mentioned in these verses were discussed in a separate chapter, each in one chapter.

then you had few ahadeeth with their explanation like:

Narrated ibn Omar (radiyAllahu anhu):

The Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said, “Amongst the trees, there is a tree, the leaves of which do not fall and is like a Muslim. Tell me the name of that tree.” Everybody started thinking about the trees of the desert areas. And I thought of the date-palm tree but felt too shy to answer. The others then asked, “What is that tree, O Allah’s Apostle?” He replied, “It is the date-palm tree.”

Sahih Bukhari, Book of Knowledge, Hadith #58

======================

Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The believer who recites the Qur'an is like a citron whose fragrance is sweet and whose taste is delicious. A believer who does not recite the Qur'an is like a date-fruit which has no fragrance but has a sweet taste. The hypocrite who recites the Qur'an is like a colocynth whose fragrance is so sweet, but its taste is bitter. The hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'an is like basil which has no fragrance and its taste is bitter.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

---
i forgot the other ahadeeth that were mentioned in there.

May Allah benefit us with what He has taught us, and teach us what will benefit us, and Increase us in Knowledge. ameen.

Marital Discord ’Al-Nushooz’

Certainly, security and happiness, regardless of whether talking about the family or the society, will not come about simply through force and coercion. They will not be present through the power of iron or fire. In fact, they can only come out through the rectifying of the souls, purifying of the characters, proper perceptions and sticking to the laws of Islam and acting in accord with them in all aspects of life. If that is present, then the causes for security in society are present and for the family there will be the pillars for continuance and permanence.

If Muslims would return to the principles of Islam and its law, they would find that it has laid down practical and realistic means for solving such disputes. In bringing about a good and proper family and marital life, the Noble Quran has laid down a path that solves every problem that could exist between the spouses and has laid down for them the ways of wisdom and stages of behavior that will lead to goodness. There is nothing amazing in this, since it is the law of a lord who is Knowledgeable, Aware, who created mankind and knows its hidden aspects and places of weakness.

What then are the laws that bring about this great good of security and tranquility? It is what is known in fiqh as the laws of nushooz, its cases, its causes, how to be protected from it, and the means to cure the problem.

Alhamdulillah i finished like an hour or so ago. what surprises me about this book is that it was translated and printed in 1996, and i saw this book like maybe a few weeks ago at tarbiyah bookstore maashaaAllah. i was very interested in it, but i didn't know its author and then i found a section of the book online as well while i was searching to know who the author was.

and i found he has another book which i saw in our WII in CCNY and i remember a sister asking me if i knew the author back then but i could only say, i knew the university he studied in and teaches is a good one but i don't know him. but because i was very interested in knowing him to buy this book at least, i was searching to know him so much.

i found some info on him at dar-us-salam, that said he is a major scholar maashaaAllah, so i thought if he is such then our salafi duat Muhammad Yaseen must know him, so i asked him and he said he is from the major scholar and he sat under him 2 summer ago and whatever of his works are found to be benefited from, so i was very happy maashaaAllah. alhamdulillah. so alhamdulillah i had little money saved so i bought two of his books - fiqh of marriage and this one.

this is what dar-us-salam site had about him: the world renowned scholar of comparative fiqh, Dr. al-Sadlaan of Muhammad Ibn Saud University.

may Allah reward the shaykh for his beneficial works, there are two more works found under his name:
1. Fiqh of Marriage in the Light of the Quran and Sunnah
and another
2. Words of Remembrance and Words of Reminder [it has a book and a CD along with it]

both of these found at dar-us-salam.com online maashaaAllah. i hope i could buy last one as well some day in future inshaaAllah.

-=========================================
now about this book, it is really really short and very very beneficial. i picked the long title for you because shaykh really goes into detail of each issue mentioned in this title and he supports with daleel maashaaAllah.

there are some footnotes by the translator, i didn't like couple of his footnotes and his manhaj is not sound one either. but alhamdulillah.

i would strongly suggest for any families to buy it and benefit from it. shaykh really gave detail solutions to problems and it could inshaaAllah bring much peace in many families.

i really liked the explanation of this aya in detail that shaykh gave:

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allâh has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allâh and to their husbands), and guard in the husband's absence what Allâh orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity, their husband's property, etc.). As to those women on whose part you see ill conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful), but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allâh is Ever Most High, Most Great. (An-Nisa 4:34)

the bold part only, the three steps - first advice, second, boycott and last beat.

and i think there has been much misunderstanding amongst common muslims on this beating and also leaving the first two steps and may Allah guide us all to beneficial knowledge and grant us tawpiq to act on them. ameen.

and with the section of the book i found online, i will end my review. hope you buy and benefit from the book inshaaAllah and share your review with us. inshaaAllah.

======================================
Marital Discord [al-Nushooz], Its Definition, Cases, Causes, Means of Protection From It, and Its Remedy From the Quran and Sunnah.

The husband himself may be the cause of an unhappy marriage. For example, he may be very stingy and miserly. He may also be very emotional and excitable. He may also be someone who is very harsh, tough and despotic. He may be one who forces his will and decisions upon his wife in every matter without consulting with her, taking into consideration her feelings, exchanging views on the matter and being pleasant with this wife.

He might consider his wife like some kind of chattel [instead of another human] and therefore deals with her with coldness and coarseness without any compassion or gentleness. [Translator’s Footnote: A disease that seems to afflict many men in their ability to be very kind and brotherly to their brothers but extremely cold and harsh towards their own wives. Obviously, their wives have more rights upon them than any of their brothers in Islam. This mistaken behavior must be corrected.]

The cause for that may also be in his friends who sow discontent between a man and his wife by leading him and pushing him to disliking and hating his wife and wishing to be free from her.

"[In fact,] (his extreme good nature beyond normal limits) may also lead to his wife to change her disposition and make her try to override him and then disobey his commands and elevate herself above him." [Majallah al-Jundi al-Muslim, p. 29, fn.1.]

"He may cause his wife different forms of harm, such as cursing her or her family, reviling her, verbally abusing her for the tiniest of reasons. He may insult her because of her family, if it is less prestigious or honorable than his. Or [another act of nushooz on his part is that] he may try to bring harm to her by divorcing her and then, before the waiting period is finished, bring her back as his wife and then divorce her again. All this is done without the intention of returning to a real married life but simply to harm her and transgress her rights. Or he may avoid having sexual intercourse with her for no reason or legal sanction. This may lead the woman to lose her chastity and doing something forbidden." [Al-Bahuti al-Hanbali, Kishaaf al-Qinaa’ an Matn al-Iqnaa’, vol. 5, pp. 184, 290, 213; Ibn Abideen, Radd al-Mukhtar ala al-Darr al-Mukhtar wa Hashiyah, vol. 3, p. 190; Tafseer al-Manaar, vol. 5, p. 76.]

Shaikh al-Islam ibn Taimiya stated, "The harm that comes about to the woman by the man avoiding sexual intercourse with her is such that the marriage may be dissolved under every circumstance, regardless if it was intentional from the husband or unintentional, or if he had the ability to perform sexual intercourse or not." [Ibn Taimiyah, al-Fatawa al-Kubra, vol. 4, p. 562; Ibn Taimiyah, Majmuah al-Fatawa, vol. 32, p. 40.]

[Nushooz on the part of the husband includes] when he orders her to do something forbidden or illegal, such as going out in public displaying her beauty or uncovering parts of her that must be covered, to go among men she is not related to, to drink alcohol or take drugs, go to clubs and salons wherein bad things are taking place.

Also from nushooz on the part of the husband is his not fulfilling his marital obligations. For example, he makes life difficult for her with respect to her food, drink, clothing and so forth. [Translator’s footnote: This is one of the biggest marital problems that one can see occurring in the West. Many times, the husbands simply do not support their wives and families. Although they have the physical and other means to work and support their families, they would resort to putting themselves and their families on the welfare system. Often times, the husbands will give the flimsiest excuses for not accepting work and therefore put families in such situations. Many times, the husband would rather force his wife to go out and work – which, in the West, almost always involves putting the Muslim woman into situations that she should not be put into – rather than he accept a job that he is not completely pleased with. Hence, their families do not achieve the economic well-being that they deserve and, often, the wife loses respect for the husband as he is not performing one of his most important obligations of married life: providing maintenance for his wife and family. Sooner or later this often leads to many other problems within the marriage, although the root of those problems is the husband’s unwillingness to work and sustain the family.] Or he makes her live in a residence that is not something suitable for her.

[In addition, included among the acts of nushooz] is his unfair distribution of his time or where he stays [when he is married to more than one wife] without legal justification. Or, he may not fulfil the needs of his wife and children such that their well-being is not met. Or, he does things that hurt and dishonor his wife and show lack of respect for her, such as backbiting her, slandering her or joking about her. Or, he may be desirous of her wealth and forces her to spend it on his behalf.

[The following are also acts that constitute nushooz on the part of the husband:] having anal intercourse with her, which is forbidden and is never permissible, his travelling for fun, amusement and entertainment without taking her permission as he is thereby wasting ample wealth for a useless purpose, while that wealth is meant to sustain the rights of his household.

If the man apostates from Islam – and refuge is sought in Allah – that is considered nushooz and the marriage contract is dissolved unless he returns to Islam. [See al-Khalafaat al-Zaujiyah, p. 39.]

There are many other causes or acts of nushooz that we have not mentioned here in order not to overly lengthen the discussion.

The Lives of two great Companions of the Prophet, Mu'aadh bin Jabal and Abdullaah bin 'Umar

Biographies taken from the works of: Imaam adh-Dhahabee, Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajar, Ibn Al-Jawzee, Ibn Katheer, Imaam Ahmad bin Hanbal, Ibn Al-Atheer. May Allaah's Mercy be upon all of them.

The Prophet, may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, said: "The best of people are my generation; then those that come after them, then those that come after them."

He (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also stated:

"You shall not cease to be upon good for as long as there are amongst you those that sa w me and accompanied me. By Allaah; you shall not cease to be upon good for as long as there are amongst you those that sa w those that sa w me and accompany those that accompanied me. By Allaah; you shall not cease to be upon good for as long as there are amongst you those that sa w those that sa w those that sa w me and accompany those that accompanied those that accompanied me."

'Abdullaah bin Mas'ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said:

"Indeed Allaah, The Most High, looked to the hearts of the servants; and so He found the heart of Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to be the best of the hearts of the servants. So He chose him for Himself and sent him with His message. Then He looked to the hearts of the servants after the heart of Muhammad; and so He found the hearts of his (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) Companions to be the best of the hearts. So He made them as viziers of His Prophet; that they should fight for His religion."

=====================================
I think i bought it like over 2 years ago, almost all of my English Books i bought over 2 years ago, in last 2 years i bought only few English books. I read parts of it long ago, i wanted to read it again and finished it i believe last night or the night before. I was reviewing again last night.

There are so much to learn in this little book, two great examples to follow up in their actions and statements. Lives of salaf, as i read my tears really flowed down my eyes more than once.

I will share few quotes from the book with you all:

Mu'adh ibn Jabal:
Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam advised Mu'adth radi allahu anhu to say this dua at the end of every prayer: O Allah aid me upon remembrance of you, and in giving thanks to you and worshipping you in a fine manner"

Mu'adth narrated to one who said he loves him for the sake of Allah, saying Prophet sallallahu alayhe wasallam said Allah said: my love becomes obligatory for those who loves each others for My sake, and those who sit together for My sake, and those who visit each other for My sake, and those who who exert themselves for My sake."

and he advised a man saying this who was seeking advice from people passing by him: "know that there is no enrichment for you by way of your prosperity with regards the duniyah, whilst you are in property of the hereafter even more impoverished, so begin with your prosperity of the hereafter, for it will bypass you in your prosperity of the duniyah and keep it in steady order. then it will reside with you wherever you may reside."

Ibn Umar said to a man who asked him a question but he didn't respond instead kept quiet: "indeed but it is as though you people see that Allah, the Most High shall not ask us about that concerning which you ask us about, leave us, may Allah have mercy upon you - until we come to resolve concerning your question, and if then there is an answer for it, then so, or otherwise we shall teach you that we have no knowledge concerning it."

"a man will not be at a station with regards to knowledge until; he does not envy one who is above him, nor does he despise one who is below him and nor does he seek with the knowledge a price."

and with this i will suffice. may Allah grant our noble salaf-us-saleh, all of them from the first to last of them, jannat alfirdaus and give us tawpiq to follow them in their words and actions in righteousness. ameen.

Tawheed/Tauheed/Tauhid of Allah's Most Beautiful Names and Lofty Attributes : The Belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wal' Jama'ah

Among the subjects that have not been adequately covered in the English language, perhaps the most important of them is the one covered in the pages of this book.

The author presents the belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, which is the creed of the first few generations of Muslims and those who followed in their footsteps. Besides outlining the principles and foundations of this creed he also highlights some of the foreign ideas and deviant concepts that have crept into the hearts and minds. The style in which this book has been written relates more to a textbook than to a book for casual reading. The author has carefully structured the book, divided it into clearly headed sections and provided all the necessary definitions and explanations that will facilitate a clear understanding of this immensely important branch of knowledge.

=======================================
Alhamdulillah i finally finished it last night. i bought this book Long time ago, over 2 years i believe or more. I didn't know who the author was so i was hesitant to buy it but i really wished to buy a book on the Asma was sifat of Allah. There is another book on this topic by shaykh assadee but that is very brief unlike this one. after i saw albaseerah masjid selling it, i thought it must be a good book for them to sell so i bought it. then i thought the author was shaykh muhammad ibn abdul wahhab at-tamimi but it is not him, BUT it is a salafi shaykh from the prof. of Madinah Uni.

and MaashaaAllah, he started the book first with importance of learning this division of tawheed and then he went to mention relationship between this category of tawheed and other categories and then he explained the types of tahweed are mentioned by the scholars.

some divided tawheed into 2 categories, others, 3 and others 4, but those who divided into four made a MISTAKE because tawheed alhakamiyah is found in tawheed al-ulohiyah [worship].

and the division of tahweed into is valid, where tawheed ar-rubobiyah and asma was sifat was made into one category due they being knowledge based unlike tawheed al-ulohiyah [which refers to the actions].

and then he had a chapter only on terms "salaf us saleh and ahlus sunnah and ahlus sunnah ti waljama'ah" and maashaaAllah he did great in explaining them so precisely and organized manner, such that after you finished reading, you are clear about each terms and how they are used.

and then he went to explain the belief of ahlus sunnah in this division of tawheed and explain how the people of deviation deviated in this field and what corruption they did.

i will give you one example that shaykh gave, which is so amazing if you understand simple arabic verbal sentence.

in Arabic there is Verbal sentance that starts with a verb and it has 3 parts, verb, doer, and object - the doer is always marfu - with damma, and object is always mansub - with fatha, so in the Qur'an there is one aya where Allah said:

كلم اللهُ مسى
meaning: Allah spoke to Musa

so the people of deviation did what with this sentence was this:

كلم اللهَ مسى
meaning: Musa spoke to Allah

thus negating the fact that Allah speaks.

==========================
Lastly our belief in this division of tawheed is that:

we believe in all names and attributes of Allah that Allah has mentioned in His Book and that His Messenger mentioned in His Sunnah without tahreef, ta'til, takyim and tahtheel.

Alhamdulillah this book is found as PDF so you can see rest for yourself in the book:

Indeed the role of the woman in rectifying society is a role of great importance and that is because rectification of society will occur in two ways: The first way - the external rectification: It is that which will take place in the market places, the masaajid and in other places which are outside of the home. For the most part, this rectification occurs by way of the men because they are the ones who deal with the outside affairs. As for the second way, then it is the rectification of society which occurs within the home: It is that which takes place inside the homes and for the most part, it is those duties in which the women are entrusted with within the household.

=========================
Alhamdulillah, for the second time i finished reading this book, i think i bought it like 4 years ago or so. I don't remember when i bought it but i know it was in the first year of my college or second year's first term or something like that. I started it yesterday and finished today. It was a good review, i forgot much.

the copy i have is given my a friend of mine while i gave away my copy, after my friend gifted me this. my friend wanted me to learn some dawa'ah method so much, mostly applying hikma in calling to people who have much issue in manhaj. maashaaAllah. may Allah reward the one who gave. ameen.

so these are few points i want to share from the book:

People are of 3 types and one should put each person in their proper place and deal with them like wise.
1. ignorant
2. has knowledge but lazy and negligent.
3. has knowledge but arrogant

and the example shaykh gave were these ahadeeth, i will just mention the summary:

# 1 hadith: a baduin who urinated in the masjid and sahaba rushed to stop but prophet sallallahu alayhe wasallam stopped them and let the man finish urinated and then ordered a bucket of water be poured over the place.

then told the man masjid is not a place for impurities, it is for salat, qur'an recitation and dhikr of Allah.

from this hadith shaykh uthaymeen derived many benefits, so ponder over this one hadith and see how many points you can derive.

ONE of the important point which my friend too wanted me to learn was that: we should not insult the gods of mushirks while we know if we do that then it will lead them to insult Allah which is a greater ever. thus to stop a greater evil, we shouldn't do something that is beloved to Allah which is insulting the false gods.

# 2: a man who had relationship with his wife during the day of ramadan while fasting, so he came repentant to the prophet sallallahu alayhe wasallam and then later returned with dates to his family to feed them which is an expiation for what he did.

you can learn from this hadith the gentleness that our prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam showed to this man. because he was already repentant for what he did and came rushing to know what he should do in his case.

# 3. where muwawiyah ibn hakam talked in the salah as reply to someone who sneezed in prayer, and sahabah stared at him and hit their thigh to stop him. then later prophet sallallahu alayhe wasallam told him, salah is not to have talks rather in it is tashbeeh, takbeer, and recitation of Qur'an.

# 4: a man who had a gold ring on, and he knew it was haram as it is understood from the context. thus the prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam was quite harsh with him, he took the ring from his finger and threw it away.

so because he was knowledgeable of the matter, he was shown harshness.

-------------------------------------------------
so the above deals with hikma matter that we all need very much. maashaaAllah.

============================================
then shaykh also advices that a woman should be righteous, and she should seek knowledge and it is easy nowadays as one can seek ilm using books and tapes which plays a great role in learning the deen.

=======================================
shaykh also advices that the woman should be good at raising the children for they are the man and woman of future. and she should give them good up bringing, teaching them these THREE matters:

1. giving importance to ibadah
2. good manners and
3. good treatment towards the people

and he advised that we shouldn't submit to the way the society is rather we should stick to the legislation of our Deen. if we submit to the affairs then there won't be any rectification.

=========================
and that she should be diligent in giving dawa'ah wherever she can, and her place of giving daw'ah is the gatherings of woman, in school or university or likes to the girls of her class.

======================
and another thing shaykh advised on was the woman having articulacy and eloquence, it is having understanding of the ARabic language and its grammar so she can explain the language and shaykh advised to give classes on this after he knows so she is good at expressing the terms of the grammars even if they dars she gives are few.

and then the book ends and there are several beneficial fatawa at the end of the book.

I will end here. and you can see we all woman should take to benefit from this book as it is a guide for us in our calling to Allah.

and Allah knows best.
wassalamualikum wa rahma tullahiwabaraka tuhu

===================
I found this book while i was searching through the site to find some good books for a sister, and when i came upon this book and saw it was by the dar-us-salam research division, i was so happy, because i trust their research division work very much, and i was even more happy to see the PDF sample pages of this book that had content of the book and few pages of the book. [I finished the book today after magrib, alhamdulillah]

The content table of the book caught my heart, really, it was such that i just said, it is the book of my dream, everything i thought of about raising children are found in this book. Alhamdulillah.

Sadly, the PDF sample pages file's link is broken now but check it later, they might be updating the site: http://store.dar-us-salam.com/Eng_Women/076.html

This book is amazing, it starts with first giving advice to pick a righteous spouse and then it steps that one should take to make sure the child that is gifted to them would be saved from the touch of shaytan, and then it tells you about the rights of the baby before he/she is born and then the rights after the baby is born, from naming to aqeeqa, to tahneek etc.

and then it goes into the raising of children and educating them as they grow up and what they should be taught and what they should be kept away. and then it gives like a guideline for parents and teachers as to how they should teach kids and what they should teach them and how they should be good example for them.

and then it teaches you, how you should be good toward your parents so your kids will be likewise to you.

and then there was two advices that one should to kids, that were from surah luqman from luqman's advice to his son and the hadith # 19 of 40 hadith where prophet sallallahu alayhe wasallam teaches some words to ibn abbas.

HADITH 19
On the authority of Abdullah bin Abbas, who said : One day I was behind the prophet and he said to me: "Young man, I shall teach you some words [of advice] : Be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him in front of you. If you ask, ask of Allah; if you seek help, seek help of Allah. Know that if the Nation were to gather together to benefit you with anything, it would benefit you only with something that Allah had already prescribed for you, and that if they gather together to harm you with anything, they would harm you only with something Allah had already prescribed for you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried."

narrated by Termithi, who said it is true and fine hadith

In a version other than that of Tirmithi it reads:

"..Be mindful of Allah, you will find Him before you. Get to know Allah in prosperity and He will know you in adversity. Know that what has passed you by was not going to befall you; and that what has befallen you was not going to pass you by. And know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

[031:013] And (remember) when Luqmân said to his son when he was advising him: "O my son! Join not in worship others with Allâh. Verily, joining others in worship with Allâh is a great Zûlm (wrong) indeed.

[031:014] And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years – give thanks to Me and to your parents. To Me is the final destination.

[031:015] But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not; but behave with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of him who turns to Me in repentance and in obedience. Then to Me will be your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do.

[031:016] "O my son! If it be (anything) equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and though it be in a rock, or in the heavens or in the earth, Allâh will bring it forth. Verily, Allâh is Subtle (in bringing out that grain), Well-Acquainted (with its place).

[031:017] "O my son! Aqim-is-Salât (perform prayers), enjoin (on people) Al-Ma'rûf (Islâmic Monotheism and all that is good), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief in the Oneness of Allâh, polytheism of all kinds and all that is evil and bad), and bear with patience whatever befalls you. Verily, these are some of the important commandments (ordered by Allâh with no exemption).

[031:018] "And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allâh likes not any arrogant boaster.

[031:019] "And be moderate (or show no insolence) in your walking, and lower your voice. Verily, the harshest of all voices is the braying of the asses."

-----------------------------------------------------------
some of the things that are to be taught to the children are:
- truthfulness
- tawheed & shirk
- warning against lying, cheating, ghiba, foul language
- respect for elders and scholars
- love for seeking knowledge
- respecting parents and being dutiful to them

-----------------------------------------------------------------
- teaching the boys their role from the young age so they grow up with strong personality and responsible
- teaching girls their role, so they grow up with modesty and shyness

---------------------------------------------------------------------
- separating the beds for children if possible, if not then give them separate sheet at least, it is better to have a room for girls and a room for boys

---------------------------------------------------------------------
This part is the most important matter to take care of in my opinion during the young age, which leads to many sins and corruptions. Many parents show no care and do not teach the kids about these matters at all.

page # 19:

Children at the age of ten to twenty grow physically faster than mentally. their desires respond to natural motivation without understanding the consequences of their spontaneous responses, nor are they able to control their desires unless Allah guards them.

it is for this reason, the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam instructed us to put them (boys and girls) in separate beds once they reached the age of ten. This calls for paying attention to the following points:

1. parents must make sure that none of their children should notice any form of conjugal contact between them lest they copy them.

2. separate male and female children according to the propeht's instructions.

3. children should never be allowed to watch provocative movies or shows. if one of them happens to see a thing of this nature, his parents should warn him against such a danger and remind him of Allah and His punishment for watching it.

4. parents should monitor their children' company and friends, and if they are a negative influence, they should keep them away from them, and should help them choose for them better friends.

This is a very serious matters, and many things take place and i even hard a case from a speaker in his lecture that he mentioned. and some parents allow kids to watch TV from the baby age as 1 or earlier such that by the time they are 4 or 5, maashaaAllah, they are so mature and adult and they talk with so much advance talk subhan Allah.

May Allah guide us and make us righteous parents and guardians and some parents fill their ears of babies with music. audhu billah.

--------------------------------------
Teaching good manners to the children from the very young age is very important as well.

The book ends with a very good summary and then it lists some ayat and ahadeeth related to raising kids and responsibility of this task.

Overall, this book is an excellent book, in 55 pages it contains for you wealth of knowledge that we should apply every single words from it. may Allah grant us tawpiq ameen.

May Allah grant us beneficial knowledge and righteous actions. Ameen

Explanation: Shaykh 'Ubayd Ibn 'Abdullaah al-Jaabiree
Paperback: 295 Pages
Published: Feb. 2007

The book before you is an explanation of a concise yet great work written by a noble Scholar of Islaam from the twelth century of Islaam, known as Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahhaab. He compiled this work, called "The Three Fundamental Principles", in order to make clear to the people the core and fundamental principles upon which Islaam is established.

Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahhaab took these principles from the texts of Qur'aan and pure Prophetic Sunnah, as well as the Companions and those who succeeded them. This is why in all of the works of the Shaikh, whether small or large, you will find quote after quote from the Religious texts. Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahhaab is a much maligned and misrepresented Scholar. His adversaries, in his time and after expended much effort in spreading misinformation regarding his belief and methodology.

Some ascribe to him extremism; others ascribe to him deviation in belief and creed. All of this are falsehoods easily repelled by the legacy of authorship that he left behind, which clearly show that he was neither an extremist, nor a deviant, rather his works show that he was a true traditionalist in the Path of the Messenger of Allaah and his Companions.

========================================================
Alhamdulillah, last night, i finally finished this book. i bought the book like 2 years now, i believe, i bought it from troid.org in my first big order from them. Alhamdulillah.

The book is very easy read maashaaAllah, the book looks big i think because of the font and arrangement of the book.

What i like about the book is the Content table of the book, maashaaAllah very comprehensive which helps you review the book very easily. Because after finishing the book, you can go back to the content table and look at all titles and recall what you learned.

Compared with Shaykh Uthaymeen explanation of this book, i would say this book is much more simple and it is brief in its explanation, however shaykh ubayd mentioned information that shaykh uthaymeen may have left out. But Shaykh uthaymeen explanation of this book is SO DETAILED and it has so much information that you need to read that book several times to have good summary of it in the head and Allah knows best.

There are some important matters that i learned and recalled:
First: the ruling of boycotting people of innovation and parties. i liked the way shaykh explained it and pointed out mistakes. The matter should be as such: one people of sunnah are dominant, then boycotting should be done effectively as there is less harm and if people of innovation and parties are dominant, then the matter of boycotting should be looked into, and it shouldn't be done when it will bring about great harm because people of hizbiyah has power to do much harm.

and i liked the point about reconciliation of two ayat on two topic that were revealed at last.

and of course there are much more into this book then i can mention:
the book is about 3 questions that will be asked in the grave, who is your lord, who is your prohet and what is your religion.

the 3 levels of deen: islam, eman and ihsan has been briefly explained and many beneficial points has been made in each.

and also in pillars of emaan.

i liked the summary points on explaining Qadr and its stages.
they are 4: that Allah knew everything, He recorded everything, and He willed and then He created.

and then it has another stages via which things are decreed:
shaykh said it is 3 levels:
1 - the life span decree [that everything is decreed for the person for his full life while in his mother's womb] from the preserve tablet - all matters are decreed for this person's life time.
2 - yearly decree - that is done in the night of qadr, all matters of the year are decreed from the preserve tablet,
3 - daily, from the preserve tablet all matters are decreed daily as to what will happen in a day.

It is a very beneficial book of aqeedah that one of us should have to expend our knowledge of our Creed. inshaaAllah.

Publisher's Note

All praises are due unto Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad, and upon his family, and all of his Companions. Thus to proceed:

This is an introduction concerning the Noble Qur'an. It is intended to present writings about the stories in the Noble Qur'an. In this writing we would like to discuss the Qur'an itself: Defining it, describing it, discussing its virtue, when it was revealed, and how it was revealed. Also we will discuss why it was revealed in separate parts, who compiled it, how it was compiled, and when was it compiled. Then we will discuss its distinguished characteristics, its many facets, its miracles, and other related discussions.

We have intended in this introductory study of the Qur'an to show the student its mistaken understandings, and to guide the Muslim youth towards the correct understanding of the Qur'an and its related aspects. It also has not evaded us that we should point out the wisdom of expounding upon the Qur'anic stories in the Qur'an. This is so that we can stop at the thresholds of the Qur'anic stories with an understanding of this book (the Qur'an) which holds these stories between its covers.

It is Allah, the Most High, Who I ask to make this matter easy for us, and that He make possible that this pen be from the pens of Islamic struggle that defend the religion of Islam, and spread every valuable aspect of the religion.

Allah is the One Who we seek help from, and He is behind our every good intention.

Abdul Malik Mujahid

========================================================
This small book reached me last night, alhamdulillah, i was really waiting for this book, alhamdulillah, when finally the book reached me, i couldn't wait to start it, so started it last night as sleep left me for a long time, and then i read it on my way to college and back home in the train. alhamdulillah.

I have to say, this book although titled for children, it is really a very concise and very beneficial books for adults, when i saw its PDF sample pages, i was like i am no less than a child, i want it for myself. alhamdulillah.

the book goes over what the manager mentioned and also much more. the book gives pretty good detail history of compilation of qur'an and its names and also its virtues and merits of reading it and acting on it and also aspects that makes this Qur'an a miracle.

the book cited a statement of ibn taymiyah where he said: the one who doesn't read qur'an abandoned it, who reads and doesn't ponder over it, has abandoned it, and also who reads and ponders over it yet doesn't act by it, has abandoned it.

and one of the other thing i learned was the fact that: Qur'an was revealed TWO TIMES. One time it was revealed full from the preserved tablet to the lowest heaven, and then from there it was revealed to the prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam by Jibrail alayhe wasallam.

i never knew this part well, i once heard someone mentioned something like this but i never found this info. in any of my reading. subhan Allah.

also book goes over wisdom behind revealing qur'an in parts and also goes over which aya was revealed last and last.

maashaaAllah, there are so much important and yet very basic knowledge about Qur'an found in this book, very beneficial.

i really would recommend for everyone to read it, those who never read this book.

may Allah reward my two noble sisters through whom this book reached me. ameen.

The subject matter of this book calls the Muslims to the Belief (aqeedah) of Tawheed, pure and completely free of Shirk, the manifestations of which have spread in most of the Islamic countries. Shirk is the reason for the destruction of the previous nations and the reason for the misery and suffering of the contemporary world, especially the Islamic world and what has befallen it from the trials and calamities. The chapters of this book also clarify the methodology and belief (aqeedah) of the Saved Sect and Victorious Group, mentioned in the narrations of the Prophet (pbuh), in order to illuminate this methodology to the Mankind and jinn, so that they may become from those who are Saved and Victorious, if Allah wills.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above info. is from a site that sells the book.

Alhamdulillah finally finished this book. I really wanted to buy this for a LONG Time long time ago, it took me so long time to buy it, because each time i had money, i would buy other books and leave it alone. i don't remember finally from where i bought this book. I was very happy when i finally had the book. but i didn't get to read or start reading it until like a week or so ago.

Alhamdulillah, i finished it today.

I have to say, the book is so beneficial with so much clarification about the saved sect and many misconception about it and also many mistakes being pointed out. Alhamdulillah.

From one of the correction was about the Term: Wahabee.
Shaykh mentions his own experience and how he started learning the correct manhaj.

one of the main point by which shaykh clarifies is that: the term "wahabee" is an ascription to "Al-Wahab" - The Giver - who is Allah, it is one of the name of Allah. So Allah has blessed the wahabees with Tawheed [and guidance He has given them.] alhamdulillah.

and He says if those people who nick names people of sunnah by this name, if they were truthful, they would have said Muhammade after the name of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab. Because then it would be after his name, but people call Wahhabe, which is not his name at all.

MaashaaAllah.

then there is another clarification that is about standing for others as glorification for them. There is one type of standing for others is permissible that is when guest comes, the head of the house stands up to receive them. [as Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam used to stand for his daughter fatimah and she used do for him]

and Shaykh mentioned many innovation and shirk that are widespread in the muslim countries, from them the great evils of Sufes who worships graves and promotes calling on other than Allah, and calls on dead and more.

it was very sad to read some of those duas that sufees makes up saying you will get this reward and that if you do such and such. may Allah guide us.

I totally recommend and suggest that we all study this book to become away of the correct creed and be warned of false creed and belief and many innovated worship which takes one out of the fold of Islam.

Save Your money and buy and benefit yourself and others inshaaAllah.
